Eagles can’t lose in Ethiopia —Moses

NIGERIAN international, Victor Moses is confident that the Super Eagles will not bow to the Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia in Sunday’s 2014 World Cup play-off in Addis Ababa, come rain or sunshine.
Moses, who is on loan to Liverpool from Chelsea, while speaking in Abuja on his arrival in the camp said that the African champions won’t be taken by surprise by the hosts.
“Ethiopia are a very good side. They played good football at the last Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa but our aim as professional football players is to go get a result from Addis Ababa. We will be going for a victory but in worse case a draw and hopefully finish the job in Nigeria,” said Moses who scored the brace when Nigeria defeated Ethiopia 2-0 in South Africa early this year.
The former Crystal Palace forward expressed confidence that he and his teammates were prepared to surmount all obstacles that came their way in Addis Ababa, saying that, “We are African players and we understand the terrain, so I don’t think their bumpy pitch would be a problem for our team”.
Also, Newcastle United striker, Shola Ameobi told MTNFootball.com that playing at next year’s World Cup in Brazil is enough to fire Nigeria in Ethiopia.
“We don’t need any extra motivation whatsoever to beat Ethiopia. Every player in this squad knows the importance of being at the World Cup and I think that is the motivation we need to do our country proud.
“Everybody has tipped us to win the game but we must remember that Ethiopia are not pushovers. They topped their group like we topped ours and they want to be at the World Cup like we want, but we would go there and give our best for our country to ensure that the result is favourable,” said Ameobi who added that, “I worked really hard to ensure that I am fit for this game and I can tell you that I am fully fit for the encounter”.
