‘Father’ arrested for kidnapping two-year-old daughter in Ibadan

A two-year-old girl, identified as Omolola Popoola, was saved from a suspected kidnapper, who claimed to be the girl’s father, by a member of Anglican Church, Odo-Ona Elewe area of Ibadan on Friday.

Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Police Command, Olabisi Ilobannafor, told our correspondent that the suspected kidnapper, Raji Jamiu, was arrested by a team of policemen, led by Mudashiru Aliyu at the scene of the crime.

Jamiu was seen with the child around Asipa community in Odo-Ona Elewe area by the churchgoer, whose name is being withheld by the police for security reasons.

He was said to have doubted the claim of the suspected kidnapper that he was the father of the minor as the victim was uncomfortable with her abductor.

Police were quickly alerted and a team of Thunder 005, established by the state police command to curb serious crimes in the state, was drafted to the scene.
