Major computer hacking forum shut down

A computer hacker
Law enforcement officials have dismantled Darkode, a notorious underground marketplace, for stolen data and hacker tools. Twelve people have been charged with computer fraud conspiracy in the case, the US Department of Justice has said.

“Darkode represented one of the gravest threats to the integrity of data on computers in the United States and around the world and was the most sophisticated English-speaking forum for criminal computer hackers in the world,” U.S. Attorney David Hickton said in a statement.
Operation Shrouded Horizon was a coordinated effort by law enforcement and government officials in 20 countries.
The forum was infiltrated by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents as part of the operation.
Calling Darkode “a cyber hornets’ nest of criminal hackers,” Hickton said closing it takes away one of the larger venues where criminals sold the programs they use to steal information as well as the stolen data itself.
