Secrets behind our tattoos – celebrities

Tattoos are not new to anyone who is old enough and alive in this world where entertainment has defiantly decided to take the front row in our social lives. From sport to creative arts, celebrity sport different tattoos to make different statements. While some see them as mere arts others see them as a form of identity.

In fact, so diverse are reasons why our stars opt for tattoos that it is almost impossible to put a nail on a common reason.

In this edition, Potpourri brings you what some of our stars feel about their tattoos. Yet as many as those that go around with different types of tattoos, there are many still who wouldn’t touch it for any reason whatsoever.

I want a tattoo on my private part – Maheeda
Holland-based Nigerian singer Caroline Sam known simply known as Maheeda is unlike anyone else in the Nigerian entertainment industry for the brazen manner she brandishes her naked body. Try Googling her name to search for her pictures and see what greets you on the internet. You will find there are more pictures of this ‘Lasgidi Girl’ without cloths on than on.

To her, causing commotion with her nudity is a pastime she enjoys like most people would enjoy and savour a new collection of jewelry. On Tuesday she caused more pandemonium on social media when she post a near-nude picture of herself, exposing her heavily tattooed torso and declared “ I want a tattoo on my pussy, how does a million dollar note look like”

There is nothing like self-appreciation – Tonto Dikeh
Tonto Dikeh, Nollywood actress and singer doesn’t always toe the line many would follow. It is the reason most people have dubbed her ‘controversial’, but to her, that is an assessment to be shrugged off. Not so long ago, she took on her 58th tattoo and aptly showed it off on Insagram with a caption “So in love with every inch of me”. She followed it up with more assertions “There is nothing like self-appreciation, I love every inch of my body”

But earlier, while having the tattoos Tonto warned that tattoos come with them certain measure of addiction and beseeched her fans to stay off it.
“Stay away from tattoos, don’t border to have any not even little because the moment you do, you keep on going for more.” she had warned.
She further shared a photo story of how she shed tears while getting the tattoos back then – she claimed she endured the pains like a strong lady because she was doing something that meant a lot to her back then.
They mean absolutely rubbish now – Anita Joseph
Nollywood actress and singer, Anita Joseph once cried out that she now regrets having tattoos all over her body. The actress made the declaration to Vanguard a couple of years ago and recently in a chat reaffirmed it to Potpourri.

“ I regret my tattoos. It is something I wish I never had” she said “ it’s so addictive. You do one, you would do again and again” she once declared, affirming the same position by Tonto Dikeh that tattoos are addictive.

Anita said she has tattoos in six parts of her body: back of her palm, waist, top of her boobs, left leg, neck and arm. “ They mean nothing now. They mean absolutely rubbish to me now. I hate them” she seemed to spit out in a recent chat with Potpourri.

When asked why she got them in the first place, the sexy actress said, “ I thought they were cool. They were trendy at the time and I thought it was something cool to have. I was only being a gal”.

My tattoos are stars, they define who I am – Ella Mensah
Sexy Ella Mensah is a Ghanaian actress who spends most of her time in Nigeria. A mother of one, Ella came to Nigeria to shoot a film and ended up shooting five other films back-to-back. Now, she is seen more as a Nollywood actress than a Ghollywood one. To drive home his fact, the actress permanently has on her Blackberry, a personal message “Hottest Ghanaian actress in Nollywood”.

Though she doesn’t fall in the same category as Tonto Dikeh, with 58 different markings on her, Ella nonetheless has her own share of tattoos, most visibly on her laps. When asked what her tattoos mean to her, she replied simply, “ I love art and getting one on my skin was just a satisfaction. My tattoos are stars, just simply defining who I am”

Ella Mensah who goes by the name ‘Goodgyalella’ on social media, in one of her recent posts on Instagram aptly describes herself “ I love this young lady @goodgyalella …she’s got a smart ass mouth but she is faithful and honest. She is sarcastic but loving and supportive, she is stubborn as she can be but she is trustworthy and reliable. I’m so Obsess with her because she is me. She is currently on holiday in her country, Ghana.
